City Police were called to an active domestic complaint in the downtown area late yesterday afternoon. Upon officer’s arrival, a female victim was being transported to the Sault Area Hospital for injuries she received as a result of being assaulted by her common-law spouse. A 33-year-old male was arrested and after further investigation by detectives, the accused was charged with two counts of assault causing bodily harm, assault and three counts of breaching conditions of a probation order. He will be appearing in WASH Court later this morning. The female victim was treated and released from the hospital.
A 38-year-old male was arrested by City Police officers late yesterday afternoon regarding a domestic incident as well. It is alleged the accused breached conditions of two separate recognizances by repeatedly texting his estranged common-law spouse when he was on conditions not to have any communication with her. He will be appearing in WASH Court as well.
On January 1, 25-year-old Justin Girardi of Pleasant Dr. was charged with assault after it was alleged he had assaulted another male known to him at a New Year’s Eve party. The victim subsequently attended to the hospital at a later time and was treated for his injuries and contacted the City Police to advise them of this. As a result, the original investigating officers from patrol services contacted the accused and charged him with assault causing bodily harm on January 3. Mr. Girardi will be appearing in Provincial Court on February 2.
