The City Police Service has 9 people in custody this morning. Three are youngsters charged with liquor offences.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
In one domestic violence call, a 37-year-old male was arrested when he allegedly hit his domestic partner with a beer bottle. She received a cut to her head. He was arrested and will go to W.A.S.H. court this morning.
DOMESTIC WITH A TWIST
Another domestic violence call early this morning had a twist to it. A 40-year-old couple began pushing each other. She sprained her arm and retaliated by smashing a glass over his head. Police arrested both and took them to hospital but they refused treatment. Both will appear in W.A.S.H. court this morning.
IMPAIRED CHARGE
Mark Anich, age 53 of 217 Wallace Terrace, was stopped by police last night. Anich refused to supply a breath sample and was charged accordingly. He will appear in W.A.S.H. court this morning.
WHAT IS W.A.S.H. COURT?
WASH is an acronym for “Weekend And Statutory Holiday.” Each city in Northeastern Ontario takes a turn in holding weekend and holidays bail court for the entire north. It is done via video conferencing. According to police, the WASH court system works well.
