Shopper walked out of store with cart full of stolen items: police

Exactly $981.38 worth of stolen goods were recovered and returned to business on Great Northern Road; 30-year-old charged with one count of theft

A 30-year-old is accused of walking out of a business on Great Northern Road with a shopping cart full of unpaid items.

Officers were dispatched to the scene at around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 11. They soon found a suspect matching the description.

Police say they recovered the stolen items — valued at exactly $981.38 — and returned them to the store.

Desni Syrette is charged with one count of theft under $5,000.

Syrette was released on an undertaking and is due back in court on Oct. 23. 

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
