A gunshot victim found early this morning at Wellington and Upton was dropped off by a vehicle after being shot somewhere else, police believe.

Sault Police are looking for information about the incident, which was called in to 9-1-1 around 5:10 a.m. today. A caller reported someone had been shot in the area of Wellington Street and Upton Road.

Officers found the injured victim, who was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

However, police say they learned that the victim had already been injured when they were dropped off in that location by a vehicle. Police say they think the incident happened in the city's west end.

Detectives believe this was an isolated incident.

Police urge anyone with information to contact Detective Sergeant Alison Campbell at 705-949-6300 ext. 288.
