Second arrest made in investigation of late-November robbery, assault

Police are looking for a third person involved in the incident

Officers with the Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service have arrested a second person in connection with an incident on Nov. 25.

35-year-old Tyler Seaton has been arrested and is facing charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and robbery in connection to the incident.

On Dec. 8, 2021 officers with the Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit charged 35-year-old Tyler Seaton with robbery.

[It is alleged that] on Nov. 25, 2021 around 8:20 p.m. the accused and two others attended a business in the 600 block of Second Line West. While at the business an altercation ensued, as the accused threatened to harm the victims, stole a tip jar from the business and threw food at the two victims.

The three exited the business and the two victims followed them outside. One victim was assaulted with a shovel and what is believed to be a 2X4. The other victim was also assaulted with the 2X4 piece of wood. The three fled the area. Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation officers were able to identify the accused and a warrant for his arrest was requested and issued.

On Dec. 8, 2021 officers located the accused in the area of Arbor Drive and he was arrested.

He is charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Assault with a weapon x2
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Breach of recognizance – failing to appear or comply with an appearance notice

He was held for bail court. The investigation is ongoing. Officers are currently attempting to identify another person involved in the incident.
