Man with replica handgun faces weapons charges

About $1,000 damage was caused when police say the man fired his airsoft gun at a vehicle, damaging the windshield and striking an occupant

On May 17, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 27-year-old Jeffrey Humphries for assault with a weapon.

It is alleged four people travelling in a vehicle on Second Line East got into a verbal exchange with the accused on Second Line East. A short time later when travelling through the area again, it is alleged the accused pointed a firearm at the vehicle and shot in the direction of the vehicle, causing approximately $1,000 in damage to the windshield and striking an occupant. The victims described the gun as being an airsoft replica handgun.

Police were called and at 7:43 p.m. located the accused in the area of the incident and was taken into custody. A firearm matching the description of the firearm used in the incident was located in the area. Further search of the area found a bag containing break and enter tools.

He is charged with assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, use of a firearm while committing an offence, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, possession of break-in tools, mischief under $5,000, two counts of breach of probation and three counts of breach of recognizance.

He was held for weekend and statutory holiday court.
