Sault police have arrested a 39-year-old man wanted in connection with an April stabbing that sent one person to hospital.

On April 14, police responded to an assault call in the 200 block of Wellington Street West, where a victim told officers that a person they know stabbed them multiple times, threatened their life and stole their phone.

“The victim was transported to hospital with minor injuries,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “Efforts were made to locate the accused, but officers were unable to find them.”

Three months later, on July 18, officers responding to an unrelated call identified the accused, who was promptly arrested.

Thomas Kidder is charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm
  • Assault With a Weapon
  • Robbery
  • Uttering Threats
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order

He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Kidder is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
