Sault Police seize suspected crystal meth during arrest

Officers recognized the accused while on patrol downtown

On May 2, 2020 officers with the Drug Enforcement and Crime Suppression Units arrested 37-year-old Jeffery Rinaldi for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

While performing property checks in the downtown area at 9:55 p.m. on May 2, 2020, officers observed someone riding a bicycle through the alley near Huron Street. Officers spoke with the individual and identified him as the accused. Officers learned he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

He was arrested on the strength of the warrant. A subsequent search of the accused found him to be in possession of 26.4 grams of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine, $1,110 in Canadian currency, packaging material and a digital scale. The estimated street value of the narcotics seized is $2,640.

He is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime. He was held for bail court.
