Sault man arrested, faces impaired and drug charges

Police found suspected cocaine, suspected methamphetamine, seven suspected methamphetamine tablets and eight suspected amphetamine tablets upon further investigation

On June 3, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 56-year-old George Turco for impaired driving alcohol and drugs.

At 8:09 p.m. police responded to the 400 block of Henry St. of a man asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle. Upon arrival officers observed the accused speaking with EMS beside his vehicle. Officers developed grounds to believe his ability to operate a vehicle was impaired. A Standard Field Sobriety Test was administered and the accused performed poorly.

He was arrested. A subsequent search of the area of arrest found him to be in possession of 0.93 grams of suspected cocaine, 0.75 grams of suspected methamphetamine, seven suspected methamphetamine tablets and eight suspected amphetamine tablets.

A Drug Recognition Evaluation was conducted and the accused performed poorly.

He is charged with impaired driving alcohol and drugs and three counts of possession of a controlled substance. He is schedule to appear in court on July 13, 2020.
