Sault cops seized a lot of fentanyl Thursday afternoon

Traffic stop leads to a wanted man — and more than $140K worth of illegal drugs

Sault Police seized a huge load of fentanyl yesterday afternoon during a traffic stop on St. Andrews Terrace.

Officers with the drug enforcement unit were patrolling the area at around 3 p.m. on Jan. 11 when they pulled over a vehicle.

Police say a passenger inside was wanted on a surety revocation warrant and placed under arrest.

“A subsequent search found the accused to be in possession of approximately 463 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 13 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and $2,190 of Canadian currency,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The estimated street value of all the drugs is $140,474, including more than $139,000 worth of fentanyl.

Seth Willison, 24, is charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Willison is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
