A 15-year-old has been charged in connection with a violent robbery after turning themselves into city police earlier this week.

Sault Police say on June 8, a youth was attacked from behind on Nelson Street by someone they knew, pulled to the ground, and kicked and stomped on.

The assailant then stole property belonging to the victim and left, police say.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Three days later, on June 11, the suspect attended police headquarters on Second Line, where they were arrested on the strength of a warrant.

The 15-year-old is charged with robbery and failing to comply with an undertaking.

The suspect was released on another undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Aug. 13.

Because of their young age, the suspect’s identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
