On June 15th, 2013 at 10:15 am Police Officers arrested and charged a 17 year old female with Break and Enter, Theft and Possession of Stolen Property from an incident on June 1st. Officers learned that the youth and a 47 year old male who is known to her, had entered a residence on Cathcart St. and stole the owners gaming system, a laptop, phone chargers, speakers, gold chain, cigarettes and wallet. During the theft, the 47 year old male used a knife to rob the victim. The 47 year old male accused has been arrested and is charged with Break and Enter, Robbery and Breach of Probation. The victim was not harmed in the incident. Both the youth and the male will appear in bail court on Monday June 17th.

In a domestic related in incident from Nichol Ave., a 31 year old male was arrested and charged on June 15th with two counts of Assault. Police learned that the male had assaulted his girlfriend on June 12th and 14th by striking her. The victim received minor injuries in the assault. The male will appear in bail court on Monday June 17th.

In another domestic related incident from June 15th at 8:20 in the morning, police attended on Broadview Drive for a 22 year old male who had assaulted his girlfriend and was damaging her home. The victim received minor injuries in the assault.  In the process of being arrested, the male accused struggled with police. As a result, the accused was charged with Assault, Mischief under $ 5000.00 and Resisting Arrest. The male will appear in bail court on Monday June 17th.

Morning news

Late last night City Police were contacted by officers from the Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police seeking assistance. It was suspected that a 22 year old male who was wanted by the OPP for first degree murder was travelling on a Greyhound bus due to arrive in Sault Ste Marie a short time later. Officers attended to the bus terminal prior to the bus arriving in the Soo and were able to determine the wanted male was on the bus. When the bus did arrive, he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the City Police station where he is awaiting the arrival of officers from the Renfrew detachment to transport him back to their jurisdiction.

22 year old Paul Archibald of Heyden was arrested by City Police officers on the 14th of June on warrants stemming from a home invasion that took place at a centrally located residence in May. Mr. Archibald has been charged with Robbery, Assault with a weapon, using a disguise to commit an offence and break and enter. He was also charged with Break and enter and possession of stolen property from a separate offences which occurred between the 9th and 11th of May. He will be appearing in Bail court on June 17th.

On the 14th of June at approximately 9 pm, City Police officers arrested 42 year old Robert Febbraro of 81 Adelaide Street for being unlawfully at large. It is alleged Mr.Febbraro failed to show up for part of his intermittent sentence back in April. He will be appearing on Bail Court on June 17th as well.

City Police are requesting assistance from the public regarding a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of Marks Work Warehouse on June 14. The incident occurred at approximately 6 pm last evening. A white vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet, was reversing out of a handicapped parking spot when it struck a male resulting in injuries to the male which required him being taken to the Hospital. The driver and the vehicle then left the area.
