POWER OUTAGE HITS LARGE AREA
Power was interrupted at the Police Services Building from 3:30 to 5:00 this morning. A PUC spokesperson said the problem was a burned connection. The outage affected an area from Great Northern Road to Pine Street including the "P" Patch and from Northern Avenue to MacDonald Avenue. Power has been restored to all areas.

BREAK & ENTER
Early this morning a series of break-ins occurred in the 900 and 1000 block of Queen Street East. Two businesses and 2 residences were entered. It is not yet known what was taken.

Police attempted to stop a suspect in the area. He tried to flee the approaching officers and damaged a marked police cruiser in the process when he jumped on the hood. An 18-year-old from Echo Bay has been charged with four counts of break and enter, resisting arrest, and mischief for damaging the cruiser.

He will remain in custody until his bail court appearance on Monday.
