On the morning of February 28, 2015 patrol officers responded to a report of a male and female arguing in the city’s west end.

On the morning of February 28, 2015 patrol officers responded to a report of a male and female arguing in the city’s west end. Investigation by officers revealed that the 43 yr old male involved in the incident was breaching conditions of his probation by being in the company of the female while having consumed alcohol. The probation stems from a previous domestic incident. As a result, the male was arrested and will be appearing in WASH courtMarch 1, 2015.

Sometime overnight unknown persons broke into an apartment in the 600 block of Queen St W. The suspects left the apartment with a number of electronic devices including a Nikon camera, Blue ray DVD player and a Blackberry Playbook.

On February 27, 2015 at 11:30am Sault Ste. Marie Police officers attended a disturbance at an Albert Street West apartment. Investigation revealed that 51 year old David Chapman of Cathcart Street assault a male victim who was known to him by repeatedly punching him in the face and head. When the victim called for police the accused fled from the area. The accused was arrested later that same day and charge with one count of assault. Chapman was also found to be on a probation order with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior which he breached. The accused will appear in court on March 30.

On February 27, 2015 at 9:00pm Sault Ste. Marie Police officers observed 39 year old William Brett Barkley of August Street walking on North Street. Officers were aware that Barkley was on a recognizance of bail with a condition to be in his residence between the hours of 8pm and 6am. Barkley was arrested for breaching his recognizance and held for bail court.

On February 27, 2015 11:30pm Sault Ste. Marie Police responded to a residence on Wellington Street West after the resident arrived home to find that an unknown intoxicated 28 year old male had entered the residence. Investigation revealed that due to the accused’s intoxicated state he was disoriented and unaware of his location. The male was arrested for trespassing and being intoxicated in public. The male was held at the City Police Station and released on provincial offence charges when sober.

On February 28, 2015 at 12:05am a local cab driver picked up a male at a downtown address and drove him to a Goulais Ave location. Once on Goulais Ave the male grabbed the driver side seat belt, wrapped it around the victim’s neck and tried to choke him while demanding money. The victim was able to break free and gain control of the male. Police attend and arrested 22 year old Gregory Charrette of Metzger St. The accused has been charged with one count of robbery and will appear in court on March 30.

On the February 28, 2015 at 1:00am Sault Ste. Marie Police officers were called to a disturbance at an east end apartment. Investigation revealed that 32 year old Luc Dale of no fixed address struck a female victim across the face with an open hand. The accused then picked up a knife and struck the victim on the right side of her neck resulting in minor injuries. The accused was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, breaching his probation order by failing to keep the peace and breaching his undertaking by failing to notify a change of address. The accused was held for bail court.
