City Police and Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services are currently at a fire scene at the Albert St. W. and Hudson St. area of town. A garage was completely destroyed by the fire and a neighbouring house received some damage from the fire.

City Police and Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services are currently at a fire scene at the Albert St. W. and Hudson St. area of town. A garage was completely destroyed by the fire and a neighbouring house received some damage from the fire. Investigation into the cause of this fire is currently under way and further details will be released at a later time.

The incident occurred at approximately 02:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Albert Street West Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The arson investigation is still on going and is a joint investigation between the Sault Ste. Marie Police Investigation Services, The Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office. As a result, of the early morning investigation a 17-year-old male youth has been charged with Arson and has been remanded into custody appearing in Bail Court on the 22nd of December 2014. The accused received minor injuries as a result of the fire and was treated and released from the Sault Area Hospital.

On the 18th of December, 2014 at approximately 1700 hrs. officers responded to a report of a shoplifter at a store in the Station Mall.  As a result of the investigation, 38yr old Derick Nadeau of Pawating Place was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.  It is alleged that Nadeau concealed a number of video games valued at over $150 and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.  He will be appearing in court January 26, 2015.
