Report of erratic driver leads to impaired charge for Sault woman

Officers say they found the accused's vehicle running in the driveway with the headlights on and the front door of a residence ajar

On May 20, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested [pleaded to careless driving] for impaired driving.

At 12:19 a.m. police received a call of an SUV driving erratically on Chambers Street. Officers located the vehicle a short time later in the driveway of a residence. Upon arrival, officers observed the vehicle running with the headlights on and the front door of a residence ajar. Officers entered and found the accused asleep in the residence.

Upon speaking with the accused, officers detected a smell of alcohol coming from the accused and developed grounds to believe she was operating the vehicle and her ability to do so was impaired.

She was arrested and later provided two breath samples into an approved device registering two fail results. She is charged with impaired driving and impaired operation blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). She is scheduled to appear in court on June 29, 2020.
