Pride crosswalk vandalized again with spray paint

This is the second time in less than three months that someone has defaced the rainbow crosswalk at Spring and Bay streets in downtown Sault Ste. Marie

The Pride crosswalk downtown has been hit by vandalism for the second time in less than three months.

Someone used black spray paint to write "PAINT IT BLACK" over top of the rainbow stripes at the corner of Spring and Bay streets.

It's not clear when the vandalism occurred.

The previous incident, in early July, came after repeated protests at the crosswalk — and triggered a police investigation. It's not known if anyone was charged in connection with that vandalism.

The Pride crosswalk was moved to its current location on June 20 after four years near the library, at East and Bay streets.

SooToday will provide further details as they become available.
