Police wake sleeping driver on Trunk Road, find drugs in vehicle

Officers woke up the accused when they found them

Sault Police say officers found roughly 13 grams of what they believe is fentanyl and another 17 grams of what they believe to be crystal meth in a car occupied by a sleeping driver early Thursday morning. 

Officers were called to the 300 block of Trunk road around 5 a.m. when a suspicious vehicle report came in to 9-1-1. 

Police found a sleeping person in the driver's seat and woke them. 

A search found $7,000 worth of drugs and various drug paraphernalia.

Devon Phillips, 25, was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a release order.

Phillips was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 4.
