After a motorcycle operator failed to stop for police on Oct. 6, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service issued an arrest warrant for the suspect.

This morning, that same individual was arrested as officers responded to an unrelated incident on East Street.

At the time of his arrest, 35-year-old Patrick Robinson was in possession of suspected fentanyl as well as a concealed knife, police said in a news release.

Full text of the release follows:

On Oct. 20, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 35-year-old Patrick Robinson of Aweres Township with flight from peace officer.

On Oct. 6, 2022, while on patrol on Grand Boulevard, officers observed a motorcycle fail to stop at a stop sign. Officers activated emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop on Sackville Road. When officers exited their cruiser and began approaching the motorcycle, they observed the accused to be driving, then the accused fled the area at a high rate of speed. Officers did not pursue the motorcycle as it fled the area. As a result of this incident, a warrant was requested and issued for the accused.

On Oct. 20, 2022, officers responded to an unrelated call for service in the 100 block of East Street. Upon arrival, officers observed the accused in the area. Officers discovered they were wanted, and they were arrested.

A subsequent search of the accused found them to be in possession of a small quantity of a substance believed to be fentanyl and a concealed knife.

The accused is charged with:
    •    Flight from peace officer
    •    Possession of a controlled substance
    •    Possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order x2
