Police in Garden River say a driver has been charged with drug possession after a vehicle was stopped on Sunday.
At 1:37 p.m. on Dec. 16, Anishinabek Police Service officers were on general patrol on Sweetgrass Street in Garden River First Nation east of the Sault.
APS with the assistance of Batchewana Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle.
It was determined the driver was wanted on outstanding charges from another province, Anishinabek Police said in a news release.
The driver was arrested and officers located 2.57g of suspected cocaine, police say.
Steven Tomei, 46, of Desbarats, was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance. He was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Tomei is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
