Police say suspect who shouldn't have been driving also turned out to be carrying drugs

There was also the matter of an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court

Police say officers found about 17 grams of suspected methamphetamine while searching a driver they were arresting for having a suspended licence and failing to attend court. 

Sault Police say the traffic stop happened Wednesday around 10:20 a.m. while officers were patrolling the Cathcart and Carmen's Way area.

Scott Carson, 59, was charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited
  • Posession of a Schedule 1 substance
  • Two counts of failing to comply with a release order
  • Failing to attend court after having appeared

They were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
