Police say boyfriend threatened to send nude photos to family, friends

The 23-year-old is also accused of assault and forcible confinement

On Dec. 14, 2016 officers with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 23-year-old male for various domestic violence related offences that occurred between Sept. 1, 2015 and Nov. 1, 2016.

It is alleged that the accused assaulted his girlfriend by pushing her down to a couch and then choking her from behind with his forearm across her throat. 

On another occasion, the accused pushed the victim into the corner of a kitchen and held her up against a wall. He then threw several items at her and one of the items struck her in the face.

On another occasion the accused pinned the victim up against a wall with his forearm across her throat. When the victim tried to leave the accused pinned her down onto a bed by putting his arm across her throat and she was not able to breathe.

In November of 2016 the accused threatened to send nude photographs of the victim to her family and friends. He later sent four nude photographs of the victim to a third party without her consent.

On Dec. 14, 2016, officers located and arrested the accused. He has been charged with;

  • Three counts of assault,
  • One count of forcible confinement, and;
  • One count of distribution of an intimate image without consent.

The accused will appear in bail court on Dec. 15, 2016.
