Police run down suspect in weapons incident

The accused faces a string of firearms charges

On Mar. 9, 2017 just after 1 a.m. officers from Patrol Services received a call of male driving a vehicle in the east of town and that the driver may have fired a gun. 

Information was also received that the suspect threatened a male known to him.

Officers located the vehicle abandoned in the east end of the city and began to search the area. As officers approached the residence of the suspect he was observed outside.

Officers announced their presence, the accused fled on foot and after a short foot pursuit he was apprehended without incident. The accused and residence was searched and a flick knife and long gun were located. Officers from Investigation Services were called out and assisted with the matter.

As a result of the investigation 26-year-old Jordan Paim, of Dacey Road, was charged with one count of careless use of a firearm, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of known unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of impaired driving, one count of refuse to provide a breath sample, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, five counts of possession of a firearm while on a firearms prohibition order and one count of threatening.

The accused appeared in bail court on Mar. 9.
