Public was urged to avoid the area amid a 'significant police presence' Thursday

Update:

Three people were arrested by police after they were removed from an apartment building in the 100 block of Chapple Avenue Thursday.

A number of Sault Ste. Marie Police Service officers responded to an incident sometime before noon. The Emergency Services Unit, Mobile Command Unit and the Ballistic Armoured Tactical Transport (BATT) vehicle were also deployed to assist in what was described as an "active scene" by police.
