Police respond to call, drug charges follow

The charges came as a result of a domestic violence investigation

On Jan. 6, 2018, officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 27-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie as a result of a domestic violence investigation. 

It is alleged that the accused had assaulted his girlfriend by dragging her down the stairs and choking her. Police were contacted and the accused was taken into custody. When the accused was taken into custody, officers located a stun gun, 196 grams of marijuana and a small amount of crystal methamphetamine in his possession.

Police then executed a controlled drugs and substances act search warrant at the residence of the accused and located a further 57 grams of marijuana, a device used to convert marijuana to THC concentrate and 8 grams of THC concentrate.

The total street value of the narcotics seized is $2,890. The accused has been charged with;

  • three counts of possession of a controlled substance
  • one count of production of a controlled substance
  • one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon and
  • one count of assault

He was held for bail court.
