Police presence on Second Line West tied to homicide investigation

Sault Ste. Marie Police have released more information on their presence in the 400 block of Second Line West yesterday.

A body was found in a residence in the area, and police conducted a grid search of the surrounding area after securing the scene.

Police are investigating this incident as a homicide.

Around 2:20 a.m. on Jan. 29, 2022, officers responded to a call for service at a residence in the 400 block of Second Line West. Upon entering the residence, officers located a deceased man.

Officers secured the scene, and, in the afternoon, members of the Emergency Services Unit conducted a grid search of the surrounding area.

Later in the day officers executed a search warrant of the residence. As a result of the ongoing investigation, officers are investigating this incident as a homicide. Officers are working to confirm the victim’s identity and contact next of kin. This investigation is ongoing and officers remain at the scene.
