UPDATE: Police provide more info on weapon report on Queen Street

Several roads were blocked due to an ongoing investigation, including Queen Street west of Bruce

Update at 11:45 a.m. 

At around 9:40 a.m. officers responded to reports of a weapon in the 100 block of Queen Street East, police said in a news release.

Officers responded and contained the area.

"Further investigation determined there was no weapon, and no physical injuries have been reported. There is no threat to public safety."

Officers have cleared the scene, and traffic is flowing normally in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police have reopened Queen Street after receiving a call about a weapon.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has a significant police presence in the 100 block of Queen Street East and surrounding area as officers respond to reports of a weapon.

Several roads are currently blocked due to an ongoing investigation, including Queen Street west of Bruce.

"Community members are urged to find alternate routes if travelling in the area," police said in a news release.
