Police hold the scene of a murder-suicide that took place in the 200 block of Second Line East Monday night. Police say the shooter shot and killed three children inside the residence before shooting and killing themselves. One other victim was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound.

In a twist that may have you scratching your head, at least one person has reached out directly to Sault Ste. Marie Police seeking information about last night's tragic shooting.

Lincoln Louttit, Sault Police spokesperson, said the Police Services Building's business line is not meant for that purpose.

"While we understand our community is trying to make sense of recent tragic events, we ask that you refrain from calling our non-emergency/business line to ask for more information about the incidents. We will release updates as our investigation permits, both on our website and via social media," says a social post by police. "Thank you, stay safe, and take care of one another."

News that three children and an adult victim were killed last night by a shooter who then took his own life has shocked the community. Police are calling it an incident of intimate partner violence.
