The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has issued a warning after a report on Friday of Halloween candy that was tampered with.

Police say that the candy in question was a box of Smarties that appeared to have a hole in it and the box was wet.

It is believed that the candy was collected around John Street and Albert Street from someone handing out candy from their vehicle.

The candy was not eaten and nobody was injured.

Police do not have a description of the person or the vehicle and charges have not been laid in connection with the investigation
