Police find suspected fentanyl, meth, pepper spray at traffic stop

On April 19, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 45-year-old Richard Broadbent and 26-year-old Cassandra Gauthier following a traffic stop.

At 6:14 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle Ms. Gauthier was driving on Korah Road.

 At this time, it was learned she was wanted for failing to attend court.  As she was placed under arrest she handed her purse to Mr. Broadbent who was a passenger in the vehicle. As officers attempted to retrieve the purse Broadbent refused to hand it over, and at one point kicked at officers; he was placed under arrest.

Upon searching the purse officers located pepper spray and a quantity of substances believed to be fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Ms. Gauthier is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon and fail to comply with a release order.

Mr. Broadbent is charged with assault a peace officer, obstruct a peace officer and resisting a peace officer.

Both of accused are schedule at appear in court on June 29, 2020.
