Police charge three with firearms and trafficking offences in Bay Street incident

On Feb. 28, 2020 officers with the Crime Suppression Unit, Drug Enforcement Unit and Emergency Services Unit arrested 29-year-old Jihaad Al-Kisadi, 21-year-old Jawad Sami, both of Toronto, and 36-year-old Autumn Johnny of Kitchener for firearm and trafficking offences.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2020 while investigating the incident which took place in the 700 block of Trunk Road, officers discovered Ms. Autumn and Mr. Al-Kisadi are associated with the two males arrested for the incident. They were spoken to and provided false names. Further investigation revealed their names and the fact the two are currently released on conditions not to communicate with one another.

The investigation continued and the two accused were located on the morning of February 28, 2020 in the 700 block of Bay Street. Ms. Johnny was arrested without incident. Mr. Al-Kisadi and Mr. Sami were also located but refused to get out of the vehicle they were in for approximately 50 minutes. As a result of their refusal to comply with officers the Emergency Services Unit was called and arrived on scene in the Ballistic Armoured Tactical Transport. The two were soon arrested without incident.

A subsequent search of the vehicle and the hotel room the three were staying in located a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun, a variety of substances believed to be narcotics, a digital scale, a quantity of Canadian currency, packaging materials along with a number of cellphones and electronic devices. Officers located approximately 95 grams of fentanyl, 80 grams of cocaine and 18 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $57,558.

Ms. Johnny is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of an unauthorized firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, four counts of breach of probation, eight counts of breach of recognizance and four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

Mr. Al-Kisadi is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of an unauthorized firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition and 10 counts of breach of recognizance.

Mr. Sami is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of an unauthorized firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, three counts of breach of probation and two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

They were all held for bail court.
