On Saturday, officers with Sault Police, with assistance from Canada Border Services Agency, charged a 63-year-old woman with fraud.
On August 30, 2021, detectives in the fraud unit began investigating a report of three fraudulent cheques having been deposited into the accused’s bank account in late July of 2021, police said in a release.
The victim to whom the cheques belonged does not know the accused. Officers obtained a warrant for the accused’s arrest.
On Nov. 2, 911 communicators received a call from CBSA indicating the accused had been taken into custody on a warrant. Officers were dispatched to CBSA where they arrested the accused. She was charged with fraud under $5,000.
Susanne McAllister was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 30.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
