Police charge 26-year-old after a stabbing on Pim Street

'An investigation revealed the accused, who is known to the victim, stabbed the victim multiple times while they were asleep'

On Jan. 4, Sault Police officers arrested a 26-year-old man after someone was stabbed in the 400 block of Pim Street.

At around 8:20 p.m., a 911 caller reported a stabbing at a multi-unit residence building. 

“An investigation revealed the accused, who is known to the victim, stabbed the victim multiple times while they were asleep. They then left the scene. The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries,” police said in a news release. 

Officers located the accused in the 700 block of Wellington Street West. Police arrested Brendin Wardell-Fortier, charging him with: 

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x2

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Wardell-Fortier is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
