Police arrest one person after a stabbing

City police have charged a 23-year-old after an altercation occurred in the 700 block of Second Line West on Tuesday.

Police received a call for service at around 9:30 p.m. When they arrived, officers found a victim who had been stabbed. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to a news release, “an investigation revealed the accused was in a verbal argument with the victim, who is known to them, and proceeded to stab them once before running away.

"Officers located and seized the knife nearby. The accused was located and arrested.”

Mireille Arseneault is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failure to comply with probation order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Arseneault is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
