The Greater Sudbury Police Service arrested an individual wanted by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service for repeated non-emergency calls to local police.
Claire Leduc, 55, was arrested by police in Sudbury.
A release from police in the Sault says that, between Jan. 1, 2022, and July 31, 2022, "the accused made countless calls to Sault Police from Sudbury for non-emergency purposes, tying up phone lines and preventing 911 Communicators from answering legitimate calls and radio transmissions."
Police say that the accused would often call "over 100 times during a 12-hour shift."
The accused is charged with:
- harassing communications
- mischief
- failure to comply with probation order (x2)
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 6, 2023.
