A man was arrested last night after a person phoned 911 to report a stranger inside their house.

Sault Police say the call came in around 7:45 p.m., sending officers to a home in the 0-100 block of Chapple Avenue.

“Although the accused had left prior to officers’ arrival, an investigation revealed they were unlawfully inside the victim’s residence when they arrived home,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The victim and the accused are unknown to one another.”

A short time later, police say they located the suspect in the 0-100 block of Princess Crescent — and he gave officers a false name.

Adam Combs, 37, is charged with:

  • Unlawfully in Dwelling House
  • Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Combs is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
