Police have charged a 38-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman after an incident occurred on Jan. 3.
At around 12:40 p.m., a 911 caller reported a break and enter in progress at a residence in the 0-100 block of George Street.
“Upon arrival, officers located both accused in the garage, which had sustained damage during the break in. They were arrested. The victim and two accused are known to one another,” the Sault Police Service said in a news release.
Police said they found approximately two grams of suspected methamphetamine and several break-in tools when Michael Finch was searched.
Finch was charged with:
- Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
- Possession of Break In Instruments
- Possession of Schedule I Substance
- Failure to Comply with Release Order – Other Than to Attend Court x4
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Upon searching Marleana MacDonald, officers located approximately four grams of suspected cocaine, approximately nine grams of suspected fentanyl, and approximately four grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Officers charged MacDonald with:
- Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence
- Possession of Schedule I Substance x3
She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 3.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
