OPP confirm body found over the weekend in Montreal River

A sudden death investigation is underway

At around 6 p.m. on Sat. July 30, officers with Superior East OPP were called to the Montreal River Harbour just south of Agawa Bay on Hwy 17.

Police arrived to the area an hour later and discovered an unresponsive individual on a nearby beach.

Const. Ashley Nickle with the OPP detachment in Wawa confirmed the victim was pronounced deceased.

Nickle could not disclose the victim’s identity, or the manner in which they died, as the sudden death investigation remains active.   

The Montreal River Harbour is approximately 120 km north of the Sault.
