One person is facing several charges after three incidents at the same business last week.

Sault Ste. Marie Police were first called to the business in the 100 block of Old Garden River Road last Wednesday.

“An investigation revealed someone had broken into the business and, once inside, had broken into a display case using a hammer and stolen several items,” said police in a news release.

On Friday, police were called back to the same location.

“The investigation revealed the same person had broken into the business again, causing more property damage, and had stolen approximately sixty items,” police stated.

At around 8:40 a.m. Saturday, 911 was called to report someone damaging property outside of the same business and trying to get inside the building.

In the area of Second Line East and Pine Street, officers located someone who matched the description of the suspect in the previous break-ins.

Police allege the suspect gave them a false name.

“A search of the accused found them to be in possession of multiple break-in instruments and approximately six grams of suspected fentanyl,” said police in a news release

Christopher Kearney, 39, is charged with:

  • Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence x2
  • Mischief Over $5,000
  • Break and Enter – Attempt to Commit Indictable Offence
  • Possession of Break-In Instruments
  • Identity Fraud
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking
  • Fail to Attend Court

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
