One charged in cell phone theft from last summer

One person has been charged with stealing a cell phone last summer.

Sault Ste. Marie Police were called to the 100 block of Adrien Drive on August 9, 2024.

“An investigation revealed the accused had assaulted a victim who is not known to them and stole their cell phone,” said police in a news release.

The victim had minor physical injuries.

Police obtained a warrant for a suspect.

On Friday, officers were responding to an unrelated call when they located and arrested the accused.

Andre Lecuyer, 44, has been charged with 

  • Robbery 
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order 

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
