A 24-year-old is facing multiple charges after a heated altercation last night on Chapple Avenue.

At around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, someone phoned 911 to report an assault at a multi-unit residence on the street.

Police say a person “had forcefully put their hands around a victim’s neck.” After being told to stop, the person allegedly “went to their unit and returned with a knife, which they used in a threatening way toward another victim.”

Mabel Brydges was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Choke, Suffocate, or Strangle
  • Assault With Weapon
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Aug. 12.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Brydges is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
