Numerous weapons charges laid in Douglas St. investigation

One person faces a number of weapons related offences after officers responded to the area of Douglas Street and Second Avenue area Thursday evening.

At approximately 11 p.m., "officers responded to a break and enter in progress where it was reported a gun was pointed at a victim," says a news release from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The area was contained and a search for the suspect that included a canine track was initiated. The suspect was located on Third Avenue and arrested. At the time of the arrest, the accused was found to be in possession of bear spray.

As a result of this investigation, 20-year-old Jordan Neshawabin of Rankin Reserve has been charged with:
    •    Break and Enter
    •    Pointing a Firearm
    •    Using Firearm in Commission of Offence
    •    Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x2
    •    Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x2
    •    Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized
    •    Fail to Comply with Release Order x2
    •    Possession of Break in Tools

Neshawabin was held in custody to await a bail hearing.
