The City of Sault Ste. Marie is experiencing heavy, consistent snowfall and fluctuating temperatures, creating challenging road conditions. Public Works crews are fully deployed, utilizing all available equipment to address these conditions through plowing, salting, and sanding operations.
Our top priority is maintaining safe and navigable roadways. During significant snowfall events, our crews focus first on arterial and collector roads to ensure key routes remain clear, followed by residential streets.
We remind motorists to adjust their driving to match road conditions and to maintain a safe distance from snowplows and sanding equipment. Providing operators with adequate space allows them to perform their duties efficiently and ensures everyone’s safety.
The City appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as our teams work diligently to manage these conditions.
