A number of persons will be appearing in bail court this morning and they include:
1) On Saturday just after midnight officers from Investigation Services arrested 41-year old Daniel Greco of 613 Queen Street West and charged him with one count of invitation to sexual touching-child under 14 years and one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that between August 1st and September 23rd the accused did invite a male child to touch the accused in a sexual manner. At the time of the offence the accused was on a release document with conditions not to be in the company of any child under the age of 16 years.
2) A 15-year old youth was arrested and charged with one count of threatening and one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on September 25th the accused threw a glass at a male victim and struck the victim in the head. It is further alleged that the accused threatened to harm the victim with a baseball bat. The victim did require medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The incident occurred in a west end residence.
3) 52-year old Brian Aitchison of 138 East Street #309 was arrested on Saturday after it is alleged that he stole a watch from the Sears Store in the Station Mall. The accused was apprehended by security and turned over to City Police. The accused has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000.
Single Motor Vehicle Collision
23-year old Jennifer Dumoulin of 941 Townline Road was arrested on the 23rd of September and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit after being involved in a single motor vehicle collision. It is alleged that the accused was traveling southbound on Carpin Beach Road when the pickup truck she was operating left the roadway, struck a mail box, entered a ditch and traveled about 8 metres before coming to a stop. This incident occurred in the 1000 block of Carpin Beach Road. Vehicle damage is described as moderate. Ms. Dumoulin was not injured in the incident and she will appear in court on October 24th.
Male Charged with Assault
46-year old Dale Lambert of B-519 Douglas Street will appear in court on October 31st after being arrested yesterday. It is alleged that on the 15th of September the accused assaulted a male by attempting to kick the victim in the stomach. It is further alleged that the accused also threatened to harm the victim. The incident took place in the downtown area. The accused was arrested and charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening. The accused will appear in court on October 31st.
Male Charged with Mischief
19-year old Timothy McLean of 133 Prentice Avenue was arrested on Saturday morning just after 1 am. It is alleged that the accused threw a beer bottle at a truck in the 100 block of Spring Street causing damage to the hood. The accused has been charged with one count of mischief and will appear in court on October 31st.
Youth Charged with Sexual Assault
A 13-year old youth has been charged with one count of sexual assault and will appear in court on September 29th. It is alleged that between the 1st of January and the 30th of June the accused did touch a female child in a sexual manner.
City Police received 3 break and enter reports over the weekend:
1) An apartment building on the Silver Birch Drive had its laundry room entered sometime between the 22nd and the 23rd of September. Damage was done to the washing machines.
2) A home in the 100 block of Glen Avenue was entered between 9 am and 5 pm on the 23rd. Thieves made off with a game cube and games.
3) A residence in the 900 block of Queen Street East was entered between 7 pm and midnight on the 23rd but nothing appears to have been taken.
Bear Sightings
City Police received a number of bear sightings over the weekend. They were in the area of the 100 block of Avery Road, in the 800 and 1100 blocks of Third Line East and in the 1300 block of Great Northern Road. In 2 of the incidents the bears were eating apples off of the ground and also eating food from the bird feeder. City Police and MNR officials would like to again remind the public not to leave a food source out for the bears. Do not put feed out in the bird feeders and pickup fallen apples. This will reduce your chance of having a bear in your yard.
