Weekend R.I.D.E. Program Statistics: The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service conducted R.I.D.E. Programs over the past two weekends in various locations in the city.
Weekend R.I.D.E. Program Statistics:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service conducted R.I.D.E. Programs over the past two weekends in various locations in the city. A total of 1,093 vehicles were checked with the following statistics:
Six roadside tests were administered.
Two 90-day suspensions issued.
One 3-day suspension issued.
Seven other Provincial Offence Notices were issued.
One Consume over the Legal Limit Charge.

Traffic Services Requesting Public’s Assistance with Hit and Run Collision Investigation:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Traffic Unit are requesting the public’s assistance with their investigation into a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on the 18th of September at 5:15 pm in the parking lot of the Wendy’s Restaurant on Queen Street West. It is alleged that a red Pickup truck was reversing from a parking spot in the lot and struck a 27 year-old female pedestrian that was walking in the lot. The driver failed to remain at the scene. The female attended at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

More Charges in Inmate Assault

Two additional males arrested for group assault on fellow inmate at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre

On the 19th of September at around 7:20 p.m., City Police arrested two more males at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre, 21-year-old Justin McKay and 18-year-old Steffen Maxwell of no fixed address.

They are both charged with assault causing bodily harm.

It is alleged that they were also involved in the assault incident on the fellow inmate on the 22nd of August.

Garage Fire Investigation:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Investigation Unit and Fire Services are continuing the investigation into a garage fire that occurred in the 800 block of Frontenac Street on the 19th of September at approximately 2:44 am. Police were called to assist Fire Services with the investigation as the fire appeared to be suspicious and a cause could not be determined. The garage was completely destroyed. There were no injuries reported.

Mischief Reports:

Vehicles were reported damaged on Grandville Crescent, Northern Avenue, St. Mary’s River Drive and Manitou Drive. Some of the damage included graffiti, broken tail lights and dents left on hoods and trunk areas as a result of being walking on.
A residence on North Street was egged.
A fence was knocked down on Wellington Street West.

Theft Reports:

A 2000 Honda Big Red 3-wheeler was reported stolen sometime between the 19th of September after 6 pm and the 20th of September 9:30 am.
Lawn furniture was reported stolen on Gibb Street.
A Supercycle bike was reported stolen from Grove Crescent.

Earlier Release: Four Males Arrested for Assaulting Fellow Inmate at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre Centre:

Four Males were arrested by City Police last evening all charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm in relation to an assault incident at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. It is alleged that on the 22nd of August the accused persons, while in custody at the Centre, assaulted a fellow inmate in the common area. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. All four males are to appear in bail court this morning.

Charged are: 24 year-old Ron Mitchell of 103 Old Highway 17 North Root River Trailer Park.
32 year-old Kerry Mearow of #3-606 Wellington Street East.
28 year-old Shaun Mearow of #2-61 Wellington Street East.
25 year-old Dylan Jocko of no fixed address.

On the 19th of September at around 7:20 pm City Police arrested two more males at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre, 21 year-old Justin McKay and 18 year-old Steffen Maxwell of no fixed address. Four Domestic Related Arrests:

1) A 29 year-old male was arrested on the 20th of September at 10:35 pm and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 20th of September the accused assaulted his common law partner at their residence after an argument. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result.

2) A wanted 31 year-old male was arrested on the 21st of September at 12:30 am at the city police station after turning himself in. He has been charged with one count of assault, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of mischief. The accused was wanted on an outstanding warrant in relation to a domestic dispute in May involving his girlfriend.

3) A 61 year-old male was arrested on the 18th of September at 8:35 pm and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 18th of September during a verbal argument, the accused assaulted his wife at their residence.

4) A 28 year-old male was arrested on the 19th of September at 10:45 pm and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 19th of September at approximately 10:15 pm the accused assaulted his wife at their residence. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant:

21 year-old John Paul Hill of no fixed address was arrested don the 20th of September at 1:33 am on Carufel Avenue and charged with one count of breach of probation, one count of fail to appear for prints and one count of breach of recognizance. It is alleged that on the 20th of September at 1:33 am city police were dispatched to an apartment complex on Carufel Avenue regarding the accused causing a disturbance and throwing things at an apartment window. At the time of the incident the accused was under the influence of alcohol and was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for prints. Further, the accused was also on court conditions not to consume any alcohol and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
