Females Arrested on Outstanding Warrants

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 16 year-old female youth on the 23rd of October at 4 pm on an outstanding warrant and charged her with one count of escape lawful custody and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the youth was wanted for escaping form a local youth facility on the 23rd of October. At the time of the offence the youth was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 19 year-old Kerri Sayers of 371 Wellington Street East on an outstanding warrant and charged her with one count of fail to appear for prints. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for prints on the 22nd of September in relation to a shoplifting charge. She is to appear in court on the 28th of November.

Impaired Driving Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 24 year-old Melanie Mackan of 563 Second Line West on the 22nd of October at 2:56 am on Third Avenue and charged her with on count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 22nd of October around 2:38 am officers received a call regarding a possible impaired drivers operating a Ford Windstar. Officers observed the van travelling westbound on Second Line West and stopped it on Third Avenue.

At time, the driver, the accused, was found under the influence of alcohol and when given the roadside approved screening device test, she registered a fail. She was subsequently charged and is to appear in court on the 28th of November.

Shoplifting Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 50 year-old Michael Butt of #607-631 McDonald Avenue on the 21st of October at 11:50 pm at the Metro Store on Churchill Boulevard and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on 21st of October at approximately 11:30 pm the accused attended at the grocery store and stole some groceries. The accused is to appear in court on the 21st of November.

Domestic Related Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 44 year-old male on the 21st of October at 11:15 pm at his residence and charged him with one count of resist arrest. It is alleged that on the 21st of October at approximately 11:15 pm officers attended at the residence of the accused for a domestic dispute call and when dealing with him the accused he was heavily intoxicated and non compliant with them. The accused resisted arrest and was subsequently charged. He is to appear in court on the 28th of November.

Robbery Complaint

On Friday, the 21st of October at approximately 6:07 pm officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called to attend in the area of Pilgrim and Wellington Street East regarding a female who had just been robbed. Officers attended and spoke to the victim on Wellington Street East as well as three witnesses. Officers received information that the victim was walking on Brock Street when a female started to follow her. The female suspect approached her and attempted to have a conversation with her.

When the victim was in the area of Pilgrim Street the suspect grabbed at her purse. After a short struggle that resulted in the victim being pushed to the ground and her purse being ripped apart, the suspect fled with the top portion of the victim’s purse and contents. The suspect was last seen running eastbound towards Pim Street.

The female suspect is described as having a dark complexion with dark shoulder length hair, dark eyes, between 5'2 and 5'5, 20-30 years of age, medium build and wearing a white top with a black t-shirt underneath. Officers searched the area for the suspect with negative results.

Break and Enter Reports

• A residence on Champlain Street was broken into on the 23rd of October.

• An apartment on Queen Street East was entered between the 21st and 22nd of October. Two laptops were reported stolen.

• An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence eon Pim Street on the 23rd of October.
Theft Reports:

• Vehicles were entered in the areas of Courtney Crescent, Manitou Drive, Parkshore Drive, Market Street and River Road. Items that were left inside and reported stolen included a passport, a guitar, a garage door opener, change, GPS, wallet, Ray Ban sunglasses and an iPod.

• A licence plate was stolen from a vehicle on Connaught Avenue.

• A Giant mountain bike was stolen from Lake Street.

Mischief Reports

• Tires were slashed on two vehicles on Broadview Drive.

• A shopping cart was pushed through a front window of a business on Korah Road during the night on the 24th of October.

• A hall window of businesses on Queen Street East was broken on the 24th of October.

• A window of a residence eon Letcher Street was smashed.
