Drug Raid on Bonney St. On the 20th of November at approximately 10:40 pm, members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street team and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Drug Section executed a search warrant at 802 Bonney Street.

On the 20th of November at approximately 10:40 pm, members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street team and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Drug Section executed a search warrant at 802 Bonney Street. Upon police entering the residence, one of the accused threw two digital scales and a bag containing various amounts of cocaine out the second storey window, in an attempt to conceal or destroy evidence from the police.

As a result of the search, officers located and seized 10.5 grams of cocaine (packaged for resale at the street level), 2.5grams of marihuana; codeine; two digital scales, cutting agents and $540.00 in Canadian currency, seized as offence related property. In addition, officers located a butterfly knife that opens with centrifugal force, making it a prohibited weapon.

As a result, the resident of 802 Bonney Street, 19 year-old Derrick Derasp was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon in contravention of a prohibition order and one count of attempt to obstruct police.

At the time of the offences, Derasp was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and was charged with one count of breaching that order. He is to appear in bail court this morning. A female that was at the residence at the time, 18 year-old Taylor Dow of 1 Bolton Street in Desbarats, Ontario was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon. She is to appear in court on the 20th of December.

Youth Arrested for Mischief
A 17 year-old male youth was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service on the 21st of November at 11:12 pm at the police station and charged with one count of mischief and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 20th of November the accused was in an intoxicated state and kicked in the front door of a family member’s home. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Three Domestic Related Arrests
A 23 year-old male was arrested on the 20th of November at 5:04 pm at the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and charged with four counts of assault and one count of aggravated assault. It is alleged that on the 20th of November around 2 pm officers attended at an east end residence regarding a domestic dispute. When officers arrived and an investigation commenced, they discovered that the female victim had been assaulted and injured by her ex-boyfriend on the 18th of November. Officers further learned that the victim had been assaulted and injured on numerous occasions during their four year relationship. As a result of one of the assaults, the accused required medical attention and hospitalization. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

A 46 year-old male was arrested on the 20th of November at 1:55 am at his residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 20th of November the accused assaulted his common law spouse by punching her in the face. He is to appear in court on the 20th of December.

A 36 year-old female was arrested on the 19th of November at 7:16 pm in the Station Mall and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that while at the Mall the accused walked up to her ex-boyfriend and assaulted him by punching him several times in the face. She is to appear in court on the 22nd of December.

Male Arrested for Breaching Court Orders
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 68 year-old Roderick Mackay, of #1-664 Frontenac Street, on the 20th of November at 10:05 am on Frontenac Street and charged with three counts of breach of an undertaking. It is alleged that the accused attended on the properties of two persons known to him and harassed them by yelling and swearing at them. The accused was on undertaking conditions that he not attend on their properties, harass, annoy or physically interfere with them. He is to appear in court on the 20th of December.

Male Threatened with Knife by Two Males
On the 20th of November at 1:06 am a male reported to police that he was threatened by two males, not known to him, three hours prior while he was walking on Queen Street near Huron Street. It is alleged that the two males, intoxicated at the time, walked up to him, a verbal altercation took place and at one point, one of the males pulled out a knife and said he would stab him. The victim walked away from the males unharmed and later called police.

The males were described as being Native Canadians; 25-30 years of age, the male that threatened him was approximately 6’3, the other was about 5’9. Both suspects were wearing black coats. Officers attended in the area of the incident but were unable to locate any suspects fitting the description.
