RED CROSS On the 12th of November City Police received a report from the Red Cross advising that some youths have been canvassing for the Red Cross in the Northern Avenue area.

On the 12th of November City Police received a report from the Red Cross advising that some youths have been canvassing for the Red Cross in the Northern Avenue area. The Red Cross advises they are not collecting donations in the City at this time. The only description of the youths is that they are males, and they are carrying baggies to collect funds in. Remember that if a legitimate organization is collecting funds, they will have provided proper identification to the persons collecting on behalf of the organization and will usually have had a public announcement distributed in conjunction with the door to door canvassers. They will also issue receipts depending on the amount of funds donated.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE


A 20-year old male will appear in bail this morning after being arrested over the weekend. It is alleged that on Friday evening a male called his estranged wife and threatened to kill her. At the time of the threat the male was on a release document not to communicate with the victim. The male has been charged with one count of threatening death or bodily harm and 3 counts of breach of release documents.

MALE AND FEMALE BOTH CHARGED


Last evening a domestic dispute resulted in both a male and female being arrested. It is alleged that the male held his common law wife down on a couch and she threw the remote at him and then grabbed a hockey stick and hit him in the head area. The male then punched the female in the nose. Both persons received treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The female has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and will appear in court on December 20th. The male has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and will appear in bail court today.

FEMALE CHARGED WITH THEFT

56-year old Linda Desautel of 1183 Allen Side Road will appear in court on December 13th. It is alleged that on Friday evening she attempted to leave the Zellers Store in the Station Mall with unpaid merchandise in a bag. As the accused was leaving the store the theft detection sensors were activated and when confronted by store security she threw the merchandise to the ground and left the store. The accused was brought back and turned over the City Police. The value of the 2-karaoke type machines she had in the bag is approximately $73. At the time of the offence the accused was on a release order not to be at the Zellers Store on Bay Street. The accused has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of a release order and will appear in court on December 13th.

MALE CHARGED WITH MISCHIEF

21-year old Michael Joseph Boyer of no fixed address will appear in court on December 20th. It is alleged that on the 13th of November around 1 am he damaged a door to an address in the 100 block of Holden Street as well a garbage can. When police went to arrest the accused he resisted and had to be wrestled to the ground. The accused has been charged with one count of mischief and one count of resist arrest.

WOMEN CHARGED WITH IMPARIED DRIVING

On the 14th of November City Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on John Street near Elm Street. It is alleged that a car being operated by 36-year old Susan McEwan of 92 White Oak Drive was traveling northbound on John Street when the driver drove off the road and struck a tree causing the vehicle to flip over. Ms McEwan was not hurt and was alone in the vehicle. She was found to be impaired and as a result has been charged with one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of impaired driving. She will appear in court on December 20th.

THREATENING TO CAUSE DEATH CHARGE
60-year old Raymond Goulet of 20 Dixie Lane (Shetland Trailer Park) of Sault Ste Marie will appear in court on December 20th after being charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that in the morning hours of the 14th the accused threatened to kill another male. At the time of the offence of the accused was on a probation order with terms to keep the peace and be good.

PINE ST. AND MCNABB ACCIDENT

On Friday evening around 6:30 pm City Police attended at the intersection of Pine St. and McNabb St. for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A van being operated by Joel Primeau of 132 Edmond St was traveling eastbound on McNabb Street approaching Pine Street. A pickup truck being operated by Joseph Dangelo of 95 Westridge Street was stopped on Pine Street at McNabb Street facing north. A SUV being operated by Brenda Moore was traveling westbound on McNabb Street and proceeded to make a left hand turn from McNabb onto Pine. The Moore vehicle collided with the Primeau vehicle, then lost control and collided with the Dangelo vehicle. All of the drivers reported minor injuries and none required medical treatment at the time of the report. Brenda Moore has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of left turn-fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision.

BREAK AND ENTER

City Police received a report of a break and enter to a home in the 100 block of Albert St E on the 14th. Jewellery, a TV and a VCR were taken. It occurred during the daytime hours.
