The following persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

27 year-old Tara McKinley of apt #2 583 Sherbourne Street was arrested around 4:25 am on the 13th of May at the Mac’s Mart at 312 Wellington Street East and charged with one count of robbery and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused attempted to rob the store around 4:30 am, indicating that she had a knife and a syringe. Neither the knife nor the syringe was produced, but an attempt was allegedly made to remove money from the cash register. The accused was held by the clerk and a citizen until police arrived. A syringe was found on the accused. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

24 year-old Samson Kahgee of #10-163 James Street was arrested on the 11th of May just after 7 pm at his residence and charged with one count of robbery and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that on the 10th of May around 10:36 pm the accused forced his way into a vehicle being driven by a 72 year-old male on Queen Street East. The accused pushed the driver to the passenger side, drove a short distance and then pushed him out of the vehicle. The accused was observed later at a downtown residence in the vehicle. The victim received non-life threatening injuries and had to attend at the hospital for treatment.

A 20 year-old male was arrested on the 12th of May just after 3 am at a central-area residence and charged with one count of assault, one count of mischief and one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that the accused attended at his ex-girlfriend’s residence and assaulted her by pushing her and pulling her hair. The accused also damaged a cell phone belonging to the victim. It is further alleged that the accused broke a window and headlight to a vehicle belonging to the victim. At the time of the incident the accused was on conditions not to molest, harass or interfere with the victim.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service conducted a RIDE program Friday evening:

There were 420 vehicles checked.
- 4 road side tests conducted
- 1 12 hour suspension issued
- 1 person charged with consume over the legal limit

The person charged with one count of consume over the legal limit was 21 year-old Marty Hunter of 20 Gladstone Avenue. The accused was also allegedly found in possession of a small amount of marihuana and further charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. The accused is to appear in court on the 18th of June.

Impaired Driving

23 year-old Matthew Crowle of 513 Nelson Street was arrested on the 13th of May just after 2:30 am and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that the accused was observed by patrol officers driving his mazda vehicle erratically at a very high rate of speed northbound on Gore Street. The vehicle was stopped at a residence on Chestnut Street and officers discovered the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused was also allegedly found to be in possession of a small amount of marihuana.He is to appear in court on the 18th of June.


The following break and enters were reported over the weekend:

1) A rear shed behind a residence on Vivian Avenue was entered between the 10th and 11th of May. A chainsaw, some tools and a lawnmower were taken.

2) A residence on Gehrig Drive was entered on the 12th of May between 2 am and 9:30 am. A snap on vehicle computer scanner and a mountain bike were taken.

3) A residence on Bainbridge was entered between noon and 8:45 pm on the 13th of May. Jewellery was taken.

4) A residence on Churchill Avenue was entered between 2:30 and 3:30 on the 12th of May. Jewellery was taken.

Break & Enter While Owner was Home

On the 12th of May around 4 pm, a resident on Lidstone Avenue was taking a nap when he awoke to find a male inside his residence. The male said he was looking for another male and then fled when the home owner confronted him. Jewellery was discovered stolen from the residence. The male was described as being in his early 20’s, scruffy facial hair, dark short hair, wearing a black hoody with red trim on it and dark blue jeans.
