RESTAURANT EMPLOYEE ATTACKED
On Sunday at approximately 3:20 pm, the co-accused, a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old female entered a restaurant on Second Line West with the intention of challenging a 16-year-old female employee who was working there to a fight.

The female victim refused and the 16-year-old accused threatened to injure her. The 17-year-old female accused went one step further by going past the serving counter and physically choking the victim and pushing her against the wall. The 17-year-old also threatened to injure the victim.

The victim was able to get away from her assailant and call police. The victim knew both accused. Yesterday shortly before 9:00 am, police officers arrested and charged both females in the occurrence with Threatening Injury or Death. The 17-year-old faces the additional charge of Assault. They will appear in court in early May.


ARRESTED FOR BREACH OF PROBATION
Yesterday at 10:50 am, the accused, Andrew Lecuyer, age 25 of 314 Albert Street East was located at another Albert Street East address by police officers. At this time, it was explained to the accused that there were outstanding warrants for his arrest dealing with assault, threatening and failing to attend court charges.

Officers learned that the accused failed to notify Police of a change of address. In addition, the accused was found to be associating with a person he had agreed not to as per his release documents. Police officers executed the warrants and arrested and charged the accused with two counts of Breach of Undertaking. He will appear in bail court today.


MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING FEMALE
Yesterday at approximately 12:30 pm. police officers went to 420B McNabb Street and arrested Gerald Steinburg, age 32, regarding an outstanding warrant.

On February 14th at 11:05 pm, police received a complaint that an adult female had been assaulted by the accused. The female had received treatment at the hospital for minor injuries. Police were unable to locate the accused at that time.

At 12:34 pm yesterday, police officers executed the warrant and arrested and charged the accused with Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He will appear in court May 5th.


MAN HAD STOLEN PROPERTY
Yesterday at 1:10pm, the accused, Candace Lee Mitchell, age 22 of 181 James Street, was arrested by police for Theft under $5000.00 from an incident that occurred on or about February 26.

The items stolen were a Play Station game console, 5 Play Station games, a music disk, 2 memory cards and hook ups. It is alleged that the accused removed the items, belonging to a 22-year-old male who was known to her, from a third party's residence. Mitchell will appear in bail court today.


ARRESTED FOR CALLING HER NAMES
Yesterday, a 30-year-old male from Carufel Avenue was at his residence with his common law spouse when an argument occurred. The male called the adult female victim names, which continued to the point where the victim was crying and had to call the police.

The male accused was found to be on conditions not to molest, harass, or annoy the victim. He breached this condition and at 3:47 pm police officers arrested and charged him with Breach of Probation. He will appear in court May 5th.


ARRESTED WITH STOLEN PROPERTY
Yesterday at 4:00 pm, police officers went to 844 Queen Street East, the Diplomat Motel, Room 211, where the accused Duane Conway, age 22, was living. Officers found him to be in possession of stolen property from a residence on Dennis Street.

The adult victim from Dennis Street had advised police that on March 29th in the early evening, about $1000 worth of goods were taken from his residence while he was out.

He described the items taken as a sleeping bag, wolf picture, silver coffee mug, electric razor, pliers, Sanyo VCR, CD player, five CD's, seven movies, steak knives, and a foot pedal for Christmas lights. Police found Conway to be in possession of the sleeping bag, wolf picture, and electric razor.

Police arrested and charged him with Possession of Stolen Property. He will appear in court on May 5th.


TWO YOUTHS AGREED TO FIGHT
Yesterday, a 16-year-old male and the accused Mitchell Hilderley, age 20 of 846 Bonnie Street agreed to meet on Pittsburgh Avenue to fight. When Hilderley was approximately 5 feet from the victim he pulled out a pipe and allegedly hit him over the head.

The accused hit the victim approximately five times in the head and once in the lower left leg area with the pipe. The victim was transported to hospital where he received treatment for a cut in his scalp.

Police went to Hilderley's residence at 5:12 pm where he was arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He will appear in court on May 5th.


STEPFATHER ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT
Yesterday at approximately 6:00 pm, a 28-year-old male from Goulais Avenue confronted his 14-year-old stepson about where he had been. The youth felt threatened by his stepfather and kicked him in the chest.

The stepfather took his hands to the victim's throat and started choking him, yelling that he was going to kill him. The mother of the youth separated the two individuals. Police were called to the scene and arrested and charged the stepfather with Assault and Threatening. He will appear in court on May 5th.


BREACH OF PROBATION
Early today, police received information that Paul Whalen, age 26 of 586 Northland Road, was at a bar on Great Northern and breaching a curfew on a recognizance.

Police went to the bar at 1:40 this morning and located Whalen there. A police records check revealed that Whalen was on a curfew condition of a recognizance from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. unless an emergency, along with a condition not to consume alcohol.

Officers noted Whalen to be breaching these conditions. He was arrested and charged with two counts of Breach of Undertaking. He will appear in bail court today.


BREAK AND ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated three break-ins over the weekend. On Saturday, thieves cut the telephone lines to Franks Auto Body on Sherbourne Street and broke into it.

On Sunday, at 7:14 am, police went to the Petro Canada gas station on Trunk Road for an attempt break and enter.

At 10:08 am, police officers were called to a building on Gore Street where thieves had cut the telephone and power wires to the building and removed two power meters. One meter was located a short distance from the building.

NEW OFFICERS TO BE SWORN IN
This morning at 9:00 am, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will be swearing 5 new police officers in front of Judge Greco at the Court House on Queen Street.

The new officers recently completed their recruit training at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer Ontario. The new officers are expected to begin active policing duties in the next few weeks.
